Is there any system in our country?? We don't get a PM, the garbage isn't picked up, traffic jam never ends, results aren't published even after one year... Whats going on.. Where the hell is the system in our country??

Destroying nation??

Our nation is going down and is in the verge of destruction. What's going on here?? Even after the fifth round of election, PM is not selected. Parties are fighting among themselves for power, planes are crashing. Don't know what's wrong with the nation. The recent crash reflected the irresponsibility of the management and also technicians involved. Our country is going towards destruction rather than development.

Who's the next PM??

Even after the fourth round of election, the PM has not been selected. This is a shame to Nepali leaders that they could not even chose a PM on consensus and they want to lead the government. Lets just hope that in the fifth round we finally GET OUR PM because hope is all we have with those power hungry people as our leaders.

Internet addiction.

Internet is becoming a problem rather than solution in many countries, especially in South Korea. It has also resulted in crime. Many cases are found in Newspaper regarding this country. The case of the parent who killed their toddler from malnutrition while raising a net baby wasn't old enough when another case was found. A boy in his early twenties killed his mother because she kept nagging him for his addiction to internet.

Such cases are increasing in number and solutions are difficult to find. However, no such cases has been found in Nepal yet. But it wont be soon if the addiction to net do not decrease.

The Most Awaited Results!!

The most awaited SLC results are soon to be published. It has been a very long wait for the students who appeared in this exam. It is scheduled to be published today, hope it does, after such a hype.

Not just the SLC results but also the result of BA first year is yet to be published. It has been more than half a year since the exams completed but the results are yet to be published. This kind of delay makes it hard for those students who are trying to go abroad for their further studies. Not only that but it also hampers their studies. It wastes their time.

The proper steps should be taken to eliminate this problem and the education system should be made proper and better.

And then the PM resigns..

Prime Minister Madhav K Nepal resigned from his post yesterday. He and his government was the subject of controversy from the very beginning. He had lost in election from two places but still got to be the Prime Minister. He was the first Communist Prime Minister to rule for thirteen months, as told by KFM. Maoists have been demanding his resignation from the very beginning. Although his ruling period has stayed in controversy for may reasons, it has also done some good things for the nation, which he mentioned in his speech before resignation.

Facebook.com

Facebook has been an addiction for the users of all age groups. Once you are logged in, you forget every other things you have to do. It's not a new thing, all of us face this problem. The world of Facebook is so big that we just get lost in it and it is one of the biggest internet drug that I can think of.

There are some benefits to it, though. We can get it touch with our long lost friends and relatives and also make new ones. Also the message of love and humanity can be shared.

However, it has been misused for various reasons. For some religious reasons, it has been banned all over Pakistan and Bangladesh. Misusing anything is not good and because of one person, everyone has to suffer. People in these two countries must be suffering because of this. Just wish sites like this be used in proper way so no one would have to be left out of this facility.

Why Discriminate??

During my visit to Terai this time, I found something strange. I saw that one Martyr was referred as Madhesi Saheed. I was shocked at that. Why have people started to discriminate them as Madhesi/Pahadi?? A Martyr is a Martyr for a country, aren't they?? They should be respected equally, no discrimination should be done. They belong to a nation, not just a community.

Minister slaps CDO, keep denying the act.

Kathmandu, Nov. 17 , 2009

State Minister for Agriculture and co-operatives Karima Begam assaulted Durga Prasad Bhandari, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa on Tuesday (Nov. 11) for sending her an old vehicle to receive at the airport.

"I was preparing to welcome her when she attacked me without hearing my explanation", Bhandari said. He claimed the vehicle to be in good condition. The vehicle Minister ordered was not available but Begam grabbed his collar and slapped him four times.
Begam was charged for assault, a legal complaint has been filed at the District Police Office against her under Public Offence Act for assaulting the CDO, and an arrest warrant has been issued for her said Police Inspector Bhuwaneshwor Sah. As the Minister returned to Kathmandu twenty minutes after the case was filed by Bhandari's bodyguard, the case was transferred to police in the Capital and Lalitpur.

Begam, however remained defiant under the face of criticism and ongoing protest by various groups. She even dared security personnel to arrest her. "I meet the police wherever I go. They show me respect. Who will arrest me? What I did was absolutely right," she justified her act.
She could be arrested only if Ministry of Home Affairs gives order but Minister Bhim Rawal could not do so without getting a go-ahead from the PM and the coalition partners in the government.

However, Minister for Home Affairs Bhim Bahadur Rawal, who had earlier condemned the act as going against her, gave an advice to Begam : You should have got hold of a few henchmen to beat the CDO. You should not have done it yourself. This has created problems for me".
Amidst the ongoing protest by civil servants of various districts, no action has been taken against her for more than a week. Instead, she said that she would take action against Bhandari and would not apologize as demanded by government. She, who accused Bhandari for being "irresponsible" earlier, accused him for "misconduct to her body".
"First he grabbed my hands against my will and tried to pull me into his chamber", she said. "It is the CDO who has to apologize", she added.

PM instructed her to accept her mistake in the incident and she conceded her weakness in front of him. He summoned her for clarification. After emerging from the PM's office the Minister, however denied admitting her fault. "I slapped him as he disobeyed and dishonored me", she parroted.

Back to Regular Life!!

A week has passed after the Maoists withdrew their Banda and the life has returned back to normal. The People showed their power during the Peace Rally. Now the life of Nepalese (especially Kathmanduites) has returned back to normal routines- walking down the polluted streets, crowded buses, smoke in the air, etc.

The same old early rising, getting late for colleges, schools and offices. Our habit has returned. It is better than those Bandas that disturb the whole lifestyle of people for no good reasons, if lasted more than a couple of days.

Wish these days remains as they are without Bandas.

Causing Problem

This Banda is causing problem again. I don't know what the Maoists want. They say something and do something else. The way of protesting this time is better than before but not exactly the best. The number of people coming to Kathmandu for the program has caused many problems. Not just for the Businessmen and shopkeepers but also for the students. The schools and colleges have been closed for days no and there is no slight hope for it to open soon. Even the environment is being polluted. They can manage the food but where to they dispose the wastes. There is scarcity of water in Kathmandu and it is not sufficient for the people in Kathmandu itself and during this time it is the biggest torture to bring thousands of people here. Everything here is just unbalanced and not at all systematic.

Confusion!!

Sometimes we tend to believe what people say as a joke. It often happens. They say it so seriously that we think they mean it but we then realize it was a joke when they finally confess it. It creates lot of confusion sometimes leading to misunderstanding and often make the relationship cold. What we say might hurt others so we need to be careful even when we joke. It just happened to me. A friend of mine said something to me, actually too much, about what I don't like and I was very furious at him. I later realized that he was just joking but he had chosen the wrong topic.

So, when we joke, let's be careful not to hurt others because relationships (any) are very sensitive and could break easily with a small confusion or misunderstanding.

Holidays!!

Holidays are what most of the people die for, be it a preschooler, college student or a job holder. Everyone wants a break for themselves from their work. Everyone are excited about their holidays and start making plans about how to spend it. Some do their house cores that are pending, some their office works while some just hang around with friend or sleep the whole time. Some could get really creative during their holidays.

Holidays after SLC or High School exams are the longest and most useful if used in proper way. We have plenty of time to take various classes on the subjects that interests us, can develop new hobbies or visit new places. It enables us to get knowledge and develop our skills.

However, it could get boring sometimes. Even one day off would make us lazy and bored. Especially during Bandhas and load shedding hours, when we could neither get out of house nor watch TV or do other works that needs electricity.

We could, then, read books, do some creative works like drawing, gardening, cooking, etc. There are lots of hobbies if we think of. So look out for it and get creative and make your holiday useful.

Rules Meant To Be Broken?

Just a couple of days ago, I was on my way to Bhaktapur. I was waiting for my friend at Tinkune when I saw a rally coming. It was the group of people marking gathered to mark the 24 Chaitra's Jana Andolan day. I don't remember if it was Jana Andolan first or second. Well, it wasn't important compared to what I saw.

The sight astonished me. I saw three adult boys on a single bike pass in front of a traffic police. She did nothing at all - no punishment, no fine, nothing at all. She just let it go. I wondered about the rule for bikers that let only two adult people on a bike. No punishment, no fine for them? Why? Just because they were involved in the rally? Isn't there any rule for them? OK, escort them, give them space, do whatever you like but without breaching the rules. If the traffic police do not follow traffic rules how do they expect the commoners to do so???

She would have charged if it was someone else but just a flag on the bike and it is free. Wow, what a law!! That's ridiculous. Rules are not only for commoners but for all, EVERYONE. Do they have the right to break the rule? Are the rules meant to be broken???

SLC and Cheating

The much hyped and awaited exams (SLC) is over now and as usual with lots of cheating. This year either more students cheated or the media gave the proper coverage, the number of cheating went up compared to that of yesteryear. Everyday I heard the students were caught cheating on exams or threatening the invigilators or the fake examinees being caught. This year there was fine and punishment set up for the cheaters but it was never applied. That shows how bad the authority of our country is. The rules are always meant to be broken here. They make and cant apply it. Why to make rules that can't be followed? Oh God! I am fed up with such things here. It gets on my nerves. The importance this exam gets is the reason behind the cheating. If it was like any other normal exam then there wouldn't have been so much cheating.

April 1st

April first is back and with it the trend of making fools, too. However, this year I thought I won't fool anyone and I'll try to be safe myself. I was and am safe but I fooled someone. In my neighboring flat there is this kid who always irritates me with two questions "batti kaile aucha?" and "batti kaile jancha?" so I just thought why not fool him today? He asked me the same question just a couple of minutes before the outage and I replied him there will be no outage today. He was happy because he could watch the cartoon. His sister also asked me the same thing and I gave the same reply. Just then the power went off and he came by asking me why. I just smiled and said "April Fool". All he could do was smile because early in the morning he had tried to fool me. The deal was even and I don't like keeping anyone's debt, whatever it is.

It was just a small joke which did not harm anyone but sometimes people play serious jokes on others which could cause a serious problem. I have heard about such jokes more than once, most of them from my relatives. I wonder why people do that? Its good to joke but it has to have certain limits. Everything should have a limit. Anyways, no more philosophical stuffs, its April 1st so happy April fool's day. Ha!!ha!!

Monarchy Not Ended Yet!!

The words "Monarchy has not ended, yet" spoken by former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev (I like to call him by this very name, the one I knew him by until he was overthrown) created a big stir throughout the country.

Many leaders were shaken, some commented he should be legally charged and some dismissed it saying it was just his daydream. I like the latter. He is a normal citizen now and has the right to freedom of speech and expression. He can say what he likes without the fear of being charged. He has the right to speech and I think he just used it, there is absolutely no reason for the leaders to overreact.

I agree with what the former King said about the Monarchy not coming to an end. I, too, think it has not ended. It still rules our heart and if voted for, I wouldn't be surprised people choosing Monarchy over Democratic Republic. We were happier and safer then we are now. Our country would have been better to be ruled by one lion rather than 1oo mouse.

Wherever we turn, all we find is loss. Loss of life, electricity, faith, money everything. It was better then. The only mistake he did was to take the absolute power in his hands and it was the biggest mistake ever. It might have been right for some reason but we have the habit of living in freedom and we don't want anyone to take it away from us. But we are forgetting that in the name of freedom, we are getting out of control. People might call me cynical or pessimist but this is what I feel and I really feel we are getting OUT OF CONTROL.

And The Pillar Breaksdown

The death of the Legend of Nepali Politics, The Peace Maker Girija Prasad Koirala was a shock not only to Nepal but the whole world. He was a great politician with good insights, determination, conviction and great leadership skill. The single person with the power to change the entire nation.

His death was a real shock, not just because it was untimely but also because I heard about it in one FM station so I tuned in to Radio Kantipur for detail but it said he was in COMA and the situation was critical. I was real shocked then. How can a FM station get that news and Kantipur cannot. However, he was announced dead after an hour. His life is full of controversies but he death, too, could not remain an exception, if only for me. It really came as a real shock to me. I don't want to talk about the controversies that surrounds him. He was a great personality with an immense leadership power. The pillar of Nepali Politics, who initiated almost all the major revolutions. The Peace Maker who brought the then rebellions, Maoists into lights by talks. He had the power to convince people. With that one long finger of his, he could make anything happen. Sometimes, I wonder is he was a magician of some sort.

I don't want to write about his contributions because they are too long to fit in here and besides, we all know it better. I just wanted to write about the effect it made on me not on the country or political parties. We will have to wait and watch it, I m not a political expert to predict what happens next. I just wish all the political parties focus on fulfilling his dream and last wish of peace and making Constitution of Nepal.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!!

Meeting deadline

There is not enough time left for making Constitution of Nepal. It has already been postponed several times before, I just hope this time we succeed drafting it. But the way our government works I am afraid they are going to pass the deadline this time as well. I just hope unlike other times, this time the government works on time.

Women's Day

March 8, its a women's day. Why just this single day? Why not the remaining 364 days as well. If today is the women's day, are the remaining days men's day? I think we celebrate one day as women's day because they are very special to us. Women are usually left behind from the very beginning of the human civilization. This concept, however, has been changing but is still prevalent. May be this day is celebrate in order to encourage them to come forward. Whatever be the reason, I still like the idea of celebrating the specially dedicated to me and all the women in the world. But don't just pretend to be celebrating or respecting women just this day. Women are the creator of the life and I am not being a Feminist. Respect women, love them and show them how you appreciate them and how special they are for you. She might be your mother, grandmother, sister, wife, teacher or even your girl/friend. Just tell her how much you love her and see their reaction. If your have not said them yet, tell them NOW I bet you will have the best moment of your life. Happy Women's Day!!

Challenges

Yet another murder of a media person. Its too much now. It needs to be stopped. Everyone is doing their jobs yet no one really does. I don't know what happens next or who is the target but I fear for my future in this field. Its no more secure job to do but if I think of it, its a best job with lots of challenges and I like challenges. WHAT DO I DO???

street children 2

About five thousand children work and live in the streets of urban centre of Nepal. The street children of Kathmandu have developed the tendency of drug in-take. About 51% of the street children sniff glue and more than 17% children take alcohol, according to the data provided by CWIN (Child Workers in Nepal Concerned Centre).

The data shows that among 5000, 400-500 live in the Kathmandu Valley. The 2001 data shows that about 25-90% of the street children use the substances of one type or the other. Among them 51% glue sniffers live in Kathmandu out of which 19% have started this habit two years ago, 34.4% stared a year ago and 27.9% started few months back.

The reasons behind using this 'debut' drug were low self-esteem, an inferiority feeling complex and having enough pocket money to buy this substance. The street children consist of the children who ran away from their house because of their stepmother and some under the influence of their peers.

This drug results in hallucination, problematic behavior, self-destruction and fighting among the friends. It also affects the brain and the Nervous System. Among the users, 63.9% have reported one or the other kind of illness as long-term effects.

Glue sniffing can be termed as a "group activity" as 95.1% children use glue with their friends, 77% in the peer influence and 60.7% sniff glue on a daily basis.

The drug use is 20.6% and the alcohol use is 17.4% among the children of 10-17 age groups, with 21.8% boys and 11.2% girls.

More street children are exposed to intravenous drug use. Among them, about 10% are believed to be exposed to HIV infection.

However, the organizations working on the issues of HIV and drug abuse do not give priority to the issue of drug use and HIV among street children.
(CWIN)

After I got this data, I was sad for them. I couldn't believe it. But I saw a boy sniffing glue, I was shocked. It was a real shock to me. What about you?

Street children

I was on the way to HSEB when I saw a girl begging. Its not a new thing around here and I wasn't so much affected with it either. The thing that touched me was when the girl was scolded by her friends. I was looking out of the window. I saw a girl no more than 10 years was begging. She ran to her friends with such an enthusiasm that when the friends scolded her she was so upset, I felt bad for her. Her smile disappeared. I was so touched by this. I don't know what happened but it really affected me. I felt sorry for her. I found some data about the street children which I'll write next time. I don't have it now.

.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah!! I have no words to write. The country is going down instead of up. There is scarcity of everything, even drinking water, and our country is the second richest country in water resource. HA!! I feel like laughing at it. Everywhere I see only loss; loss of life, property and feeling of togetherness. Why is this happening this to US? OUR COUNTRY? Our beautiful, peaceful Nepal is turning VIOLENT, PLEASE HELP her. Lets save her. Save the environment, save our nationality, we are in DANGER, PLEASE do something. Don't just sit around and talk about it. Its time to ACT not TALK!

Bow infront of no man

Every time an important person, Presidents, VPs and PMs visit Nepal or any other country then the national flag is placed on the pillars at different places. This is to show respect to the important people who visit out country or go out from here. I like the idea, too, but I think that while showing respect to the people, we forget our flag. Our flag is placed on the bent position,it seems as if it is bowing in front of the people, which is why I don't like the idea. The fault is not of the way it is placed but the way the pillars are designed. The top of the pillars are bent so this happens. However, I still think it is not a good idea to bow our flag, our identity and our proud, in front of others. I strongly believe and would like to apply Salman Rusdie's quote "Bow in front of no man" in this case. Our flag is our pride, why do we bow our pride in front of others???

VIP visits

The VIPs of our country cause trouble wherever n whenever they travel in and out of the country. The President, when he visited India, did not disturbed the traffic, however, during is return the whole airport- Baneshwor area was disturbed. The people traveling during that time had to wait until the VIP passed and reached SAFELY to his destination. These are the people elected by the people, for the people to solve their problems and create an easy environment for them but all they cause is trouble. Why do they have to so many security guards that could guard more than 20 people, for one or two person? Is there so much threat to their life? I know the VIPs has to deal with death threats but it doesn't mean they have to walk with the whole battalion. Cant they just visit and return wherever they like without causing any hype and problems to the people? They are there to serve people not to trouble them but they usually end up doing the exact opposite.

Are we really safe?

The way media person Jamim Shah was killed on broad daylight highlights the threats to our life and make us wonder if we are really safe. The mystery killer was found out only after a week or so after his murder. The case made me think if the police who is responsible for our protection also gets involved in killing then how safe we really are? If it is so easy for the people to kill and run away then what are we going to do about our life. its so uncertain, everything is so uncertain in this country. The killing are increasing in the name of ransom, revenge and other reasons. The reason for Jamim's murder, however, has not came to light. It is a matter of serious concern for all the people. Why don't people just live and let live?

7th feb

This is the worst day of my life. Early in the morning, I heard a bad news. Then I had a row with my friend. I had to walk all the way to Maitighar from Dillibazaar and I was, too, weak to walk. Hungry and thirsty when I reached my house, I found the door locked from the inside. I called out for my brother for a while when he didn't response, I tried calling my landlords - no response. I tried their number number still, no response. I did all I could but all in vain. I just sat in front of the door for a while and then finally when I came to know my brother was inside, I called him. He answered the phone and opened the door. I gave him a good piece of my mind. I was too tired for anything so I just drank a cup of water and fell on bed. As soon as I hit my pillow, I felt asleep. I nearly had two accidents (nearly god hit by taxis) while returning from my college. All in all, it was the worst day of my life.

First day in kirtipur

It was my first night out in Kirtipur. The place caught my breathe. It is just like a countryside - beautiful, peaceful and clean, everything just so wonderful. I was fascinated by its cleanliness more than anything else. Amidst the chaos and pollution of the Valley, it was a nice break. The place is really beautiful and a 'must-see'. I think everyone should take a break and go there once. It will be best to visit the place with friends. I went to visit my stranger-relatives, I had never met or heard about them. They didn't know I was coming but still the people were so warm and welcoming I was overwhelmed by their hospitality. The place and the people are both just wonderful.

Fear in me

On 15th of Magh, I saw two women throwing garbage at roadside. There was already a pile of garbage and maybe the women confused it with the dumping site. Whatever be the reason, I knew what they were doing was wrong and I wanted to stop them but I didn't. I don't know why I hesitated, it surprised me. I wondered why I didn't stop them? Was it because I was getting late for college and didn't want to get into fight early in the morning? Or was it because I knew they wouldn't pay me any attention to me at all? Or maybe because I am not as conscious about protecting my environment as I like myself to think! Whatever be the reason, it was my duty as a civilized citizen to stop them from dumping garbage there but I didn't do it. I regretted it later. Maybe I would have regretted telling them as soon as I did but it would have been less than what I am feeling now. I think its high time we think about protecting the environment but we just think and don't act at all. I throw waste papers in dustbin but my friends and my brother keep teasing me on that. I wonder why they don't understand why I am doing so? I am trying to save and reduce the amount of pollution one person can cause. I think environment conservation should be a matter of national concern. If you want to change this world start from yourself. I believe "just a change in small habit can change the whole world" and believing is a must, to succeed.

books:my best friend

Books are the best company one can ever ask for and that's what I have. I don't need anyone else when I have a book to read, especially novels. I just love them. I smile, cry and feel all the emotions with them. They are my best friends.
